Debbe Leftwich, State Senator District 44, was elected in a special election December 9, 2003 to fill the vacancy left by her husband, Senator Keith Leftwich who died of cancer in September. Keith was instrumental in the creation of NASCO and Debbe is excited to carry on his vision.
She serves on Appropriations, Aerospace & Technology, Transportation, Human Services Committees and Appropriations Sub-Committee for General Government & Transportation. She is also Chairman of Business & Labor, Vice-Chair of Veterans, and Military Affairs & Public Safety Committee. She has also received appointments to the Oklahoma Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Advisory Committee, the Joint Legislative Committee for Review of Coordination of Efforts for Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Diseases, the Attorney General's Task Force to Improve End-of-Life Care in Oklahoma and the Interagency Coordinating Council for Early Childhood Intervention.
Debbe has worked in both the private and public sectors. She has held management, supervisory and administrative positions for Globe Life, Aetna, Kerr McGee and the OSU Extension Center. She was Division Administrator and then later Director of Administration and Personnel for the Chief Medical Examiner's office. She's had training and experience in Strategic Planning, State Ethics, Government Purchasing and Administrative Law. She served as a member of the Office of Personnel Management's Advisory Council and the Employee Benefit Coordinator's Association.
Debbe holds degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University as well as University of Central Oklahoma."
